It tested the #1 Golden Triangle after acidizing and fracturing perforations between 3,638-54 ft. and between 3,676 and 3,702 ft. Tests were conducted through a 48/64-in. choke with 50 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The nearest well producing from Atoka is some seven miles west in Newark East Field. The company set pipe to total depth at 7,200 ft. on the wildcat, drilled about 2.5 miles southwest of the town of Smithland. The apparent discovery is a mile southeast of the only remaining producer in Smithland South Field. That well, the #1 Osborn-Stotts Unit, showed an initial potential of 1.5 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Travis Peak perforations between 6,954-60 ft. It produced 21.4 million cu. ft. of gas, 165 bbl. of condensate and 5,958 bbl. of water during its first year online. 3 A Yegua discovery in Hardin County, Texas, flowed 120 bbl. of oil, 1,000 cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 13 bbl. of water a day for Famcor Oil Inc., Houston. The #1 Black Stone Minerals "J" in the John S. McAday Survey, A-420, produced through perforations between 4,766-71 ft. through a 10/64-in. choke with 500 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The discovery is a mile north of the closest well in Ace North Field, which produces from Miocene, Frio and Jackson, according to IHS Energy. This well is part of a concentrated program for Smith. It also has staked the #1 McKee wildcat a mile west-northwest of the Rankin well and is nearing total depth at 16,500 ft. at the #1 Grayburg, another 0.66-mile northeast. It drilled the #1 Federal Royalty Partners wildcat in July about four miles southeast of the Rankin well but hasn't reported results. The nearest producer to the #1 Rankin is about two miles northeast in Hathaway Field. There, the #1 Stone tested at 187 bbl. of oil per day from Yegua between 11,468-74 ft. in 1959 and was recompleted in Yegua at 10,488-94 ft. for 236 bbl. of oil per day in 1960. 5 Another success highlighted the Westport Oil & Gas Co. LP exploration program in southeastern Liberty County, Texas. The Denver independent's #1 Catherine Henderson flowed 7.8 million cu. ft. of gas and 500 bbl. of condensate a day from two Yegua zones between 11,908-85 ft. through an 18/64-in. choke with 7,465 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The 12,500-ft. well is in TY&NO RR Co. #13 Survey, A-368. The nearest Yegua production is from Crooked Bayou Field a mile south-southeast. Westport also has permitted the #2 Catherine Henderson a half-mile north of its discovery and is drilling the #1 Jimbo Dunagan two miles southeast of the #1 Catherine Henderson. It has completed the #1 Schwarz 2.75 miles southwest of the discovery and is drilling the #1 Galloway another 3.25 miles west-southwest. Farther southeast in H&TC Survey, A-740, in Liberty County, the company permitted the #1 Bond to 9,150 ft., IHS Energy reports. 6 Bexco Operating Inc., College Station, Texas, flowed gas at a rate of 564,000 cu. ft. a day with one bbl. of condensate and 29 bbl. of water at its #1 Lake Austin State discovery. The well is 10 miles southwest of Sargent in I&GN Survey, A-222, in eastern Matagorda County, Texas. It tested through an 8/64-in. choke with 1,865 psi of flowing tubing pressure from Miocene perforations between 7,276-77 ft. The bottomhole location of the directional well was beneath Lake Austin in State Tract 1. Lake Austin Field is more than two miles east-northeast. In that field, the #1 Lewis tested 21.9 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Miocene. 7 A new development well in Hope Field handed EOG Resources Inc., Houston, a flow rate of 30.2 million cu. ft. of gas, 92 bbl. of condensate and 126 bbl. of water a day. The company's #1 Henley Gas Unit in Lavaca County, Texas, was fractured in the Lower Wilcox from 14,049 to 14,253 ft. and tested on a 30/64-in. choke with 6,728 psi of flowing tubing pressure. Previous production from the field has been shallower than 13,000 ft. from Miocene, Oligocene and Eocene formations. The new well is in Francis Frede Survey, A-183. 8 A third deep Jurassic wildcat has been permitted near Chittum Field in northern Maverick County, Texas, by Blue Star Operating Co., Irving, Texas. The company's #2 Jones "145" is scheduled to 22,000 ft. in I&GN RR Co. Survey, A-347, about 20 miles east of the town of Eagle Pass. This well follows the company's #132-1 Taylor, the first Jurassic test in the area, which currently is drilling more than six miles west-northwest of the #2 Jones "145."
