Rachel Reese, founder and managing attorney of R. Reese and Associates, is today’s featured Forty Under 40 honoree.
After years working as a litigator and then as senior counsel at Swift Energy, Reese took a leap of faith, leaving her “secure in-house job” to start her own firm based in Houston.
Drawing upon her years of experience, Reese said she had recognized that the in-house model does not work for every E&P company. Instead, she realized that she could develop a method that would offer better value to E&P companies.
“When I left my secure in-house job at an energy company, I had no training to run or market a small business. I had an idea, a little bit of savings and an intense desire to build a law firm that made a significant positive impact on both the companies that we represented and on the lives of my employees,” she said.
“Like many entrepreneurs before me,” she continued, “I overcame these obstacles by sheer force of will. I read the books, took the training and learned the technology. I made mistakes and I asked for help. Most importantly, I never gave up.”
