1 Armadillo Services Inc. of Alabama, Raymond, Ala., completed a discovery in the northwestern corner of Monroe County, Miss., for 360,000 cu. ft. of gas a day and no liquids. The company's #1 Stovall Farms is in Poplar Springs Field in Section 31-11s-63, about 0.25-mile east of the Lee County boundary line and about a half-mile northeast of the Chickasaw County boundary. The well tested a Lewis interval between 2,397 and 2,404 ft. through a 16/64-in. choke. The #1 Stovall Farms "6-8," the single well in Poplar Springs Field, tested for 466,000 cu. ft. of gas a day from Lewis and has produced nearly 60 million cu. ft. of gas since its discovery in March 2002. 2 A 3,000-ft. wildcat has been staked about three miles east-southeast of Sulligent, Ala., by Primal Energy Co., Houston. The #1 Paramount-Humphreys "1-5" is scheduled to test Carter in Section 1-14s-15w, Lamar County. The nearest drilling is a mile southeast, and the nearest production is another half-mile southeast at the #1 Jessie Frye in Fairview Field. Primal has also staked another wildcat in the area, the #1 Paramount Hawkins "22-9." The test is scheduled to 2,900 ft. in Section 22-13s-16w. 3 Viking Energy of Traverse City Ltd., Traverse City, Mich., plans to drill the #1-11 Butler to 6,500 ft. about 2.5 miles southeast of Buckley in Wexford County, Mich. The wellsite is in Section 11-24n-12w, Wexford Township, and will target gas in Brown Niagaran. The location is almost 1.5 miles southeast of the discovery for Wexford 10-24n-12 Field, which tested at 9 million cu. ft. of gas and 454 bbl. of condensate a day from Niagaran and has produced some 3.8 billion cu. ft. of gas and 86,318 bbl. of condensate since 1972. Viking drilled the #1-14 Dunbar about a half-mile south of the new well, but it was dry. The company reentered the well in June and drilled it directionally, but it hasn't released information about that test. 4 Shakespeare Oil Co. Inc., Salem, Ill., will look for oil in Silurian at 2,150 ft. at a northwestern Illinois Basin wildcat about 1.25 miles southeast of Edinburg, Ill. The company's #1 Edith Ferre, in Section 19-14n-2w, Christian County, is a mile north of the nearest production in Sharpsburg Northwest Field. That five-well field has produced 73,000 bbl. of oil from Siluro-Devonian since its discovery in 1997. About 1.5 miles east of the wildcat, Sharpsburg Field has produced 54,000 bbl. of oil from 10 Devonian wells. That field was discovered in 1974, but a focused drilling program about two years ago has boosted production. It made 1,211 bbl. of oil in August 2003. 5 MDM Energy, Addison, Texas, has staked a wildcat in Section 7-4n-5e, Clay County, Ill., more than 4.25 miles southwest of Iola. The #1 Milne is scheduled to Silurian at 5,000 ft. The well is more than 0.75-mile southwest of Iola Central Field, which produces from Cypress. 6 A new well slated to Warsaw at 2,300 ft. has been permitted by Har-Ken Oil Co., Owensboro, Kent. The company will drill its #1 Edwin Eaton in Section 17-4n-6w, Daviess County, Ind., about two miles southeast of Plainville, according to IHS Energy. The wildcat is about three miles from two fields. To the northeast, Elnora Field has produced 85,000 bbl. of oil from eight wells from multiple zones, including Salem. In August, two wells remained active and produced at stripper-well rates. To the east, a shallow Aux Vases pool produced 7,000 bbl. of oil from two wells between 1984 and 2001. The only Warsaw production in Daviess County comes from Washington Field, about six miles south-southwest. 7 Joe Bi Development, Millersburg, Ohio, will drill to Precambrian at 5,100 ft. at its #1 Haberman Unit in Lot 26, Hilliar Township, Centerburg Quad, in Knox County, Ohio. The location is 1.5 miles northeast of Centerburg. Nearest production comes from Trempealeau in Morrow County Consolidated Field, about six miles northwest. 8 Ohio Kentucky Oil Corp., Lexington, Ky., has permitted an Oriskany wildcat in Sweden Township, Brookland Quad, in north-central Potter County, Pa. The company's #1 Eugene Supplee well is slightly more than seven miles southwest of Ulysses. In 2003, it drilled the #1 Everett Blass a little more than two miles southwest. That well reached Oriskany at 6,000 ft., but no further details are available. It also drilled the #1 Jack Knowlton in the same area. Details are tight on that well, too. The latest wildcat is between 2.5 and six miles southwest of Ulysses, Newfield and Brookland fields. All three produce gas from Oriskany. 9 Clearfield County, Pa., is the target for a group of wildcats by two companies, according to IHS Energy. T&F Exploration LP, Pittsburgh, plans to drill the #1 Houser Unit wildcat to Oriskany at 8,350 ft. in Section F, Wallaceton Quad, Boggs Township, about 2.3 miles south of Wallacetown and 1.5 miles northeast of an unnamed Oriskany field. Mid East Oil Co., Indiana, Pa., will drill the other six wells, all aimed at Devonian at 5,000 ft. The #1 D.P. Mull is in Section A, Karthaus Quad, Karthaus Township, more than 11.5 miles northwest of Snowshoe. The #1 Vallimont is in Section B, Frenchville Quad, Covington Township, more than 12 miles northeast of Wallacetown. The #1, #2, #3 and #4 MM&V wells all are in Section C, Frenchville Quad, Karthaus Township. 10 A second 9,000-ft. wildcat has been scheduled by Interstate Gas Marketing Inc., Indiana, Pa. The #1 G. Farabaugh Unit is in West Carroll Township, Colver Quad, in western Cambria County, Pa. The new well is about two miles northeast of the operator's #1 B. Lowmaster Unit, permitted a month earlier. So far, there has been no activity at either site. The latest wildcat is more than a mile west-southwest of a Devonian well drilled to 3,925 ft. and about three miles northeast of Colver. 11 Green County, Pa., will host five new wildcats, three by Equitrans LP, Pittsburgh, and the other two by Patriot Exploration Corp., Acme. Equitrans' #3615 E. Thistlewaite will go to Upper Devonian at 2,950 ft. in Section E, Mather Quad, Morgan Township; the #3616 J.W. Hibbs will evaluate Devonian at 2,980 ft. in Section D of the same quad and township; and, the #2976 S. Waychoff is scheduled to Devonian at 3,050 ft., also in Section D. Patriot Exploration's #2 Grigsby and #3 Grigsby are projected to Devonian at 5,000 ft. Both are in Section D, Masontown Quad, Greene Township. 12 Enervest Operating LLC, Clarksburg W.Va., plans the #1 Bruce W. Scritchfield to Oriskany at 5,050 ft. in Steele District, Rockport Quad, in Wood County, W.Va. The well is slightly more than a mile north of an unnamed Oriskany Field, according to IHS Energy, and nearly 8.25 miles southwest of Mineral Wells. 13 Sundown Energy Inc., Dallas, has scheduled the #1 E&C Land Co. to test Corniferous at 5,000 ft. in Caldwell County, Ky. The well is in Dalton Quad, more than 10.5 miles southwest of Providence and almost 3.5 miles southwest of New Hope Field, which produces from Hardinsburg. 14 Explo Oil Inc., Dallas, has permitted a 1,999-ft. wildcat about seven miles south of Columbia, Ky., on the Cincinnati Arch. The #1 Paul B. and Kay Hartzer 5-F-51 will look for oil in Knox in Amandaville Quad, Adair County, Ky. The well is in Knox production trend, between Gradyville East Consolidated Field about two miles northwest and Harvey Ridge Consolidated Field some 2.5 miles southeast. The closest previous well is a 1,770-ft. dry hole a half-mile south-southeast. 15 In eastern Kentucky, Nami Resources Co. LLC, London, Kent., plans a wildcat to Clinton Shale at 4,000 ft. The #24 Asher Land & Mineral Ltd. is in Beverly Quad, Bell County, more than 1.5 miles south of an unnamed Big Lime field and more than 12.5 miles northwest of Wallins Creek. 16 Ariana Energy LLC, Oak Ridge, Tenn., will drill the #1 Gus Chilton in Section 21-5s-59e, Camp Austin Quad, Morgan County, Tenn. The 5,000-ft. well will be sited 2.75 miles south of Wartburg. In the same county, Knox Energy LLC, Bluefield, Va., will drill the CC-#2008 and CC-#2009 wildcats, both in Section 7-6s-62e in Petros Quad, four and 4.5 miles, respectively, west of Oliver Springs. 17 Knox Energy LLC, Bluefield, Va., has an aggressive wildcat campaign in eastern Tennessee, including seven wildcats in Anderson County. Depths range from 3,650 to 4,600 ft. The CC-#1023, CC-#1024 and CC-#2007 Coal Creek Mining & Manufacturing Co. all are in Windrock Quad, from five to 6.25 miles northwest of Oliver Springs. The CC-#1014, CC-#1022, CC-#1025 and CC-#1026 Coal Creek Mining & Manufacturing Co. are in Petros Quad, 5.5 to 6.25 miles northwest of Oliver Springs.
