1 Rulexco Inc., Dallas, has permitted its third wildcat to the Amos formation at 2,000 ft. in Baldwin County, Ala. The latest well is the #1 Stampede-Hartshorn-McKenzie 9-8 in Section 9-7s-2e. The nearest drilling to the wildcat, according to IHS Energy, is the #1 McGowin "3-12," nearly a mile north-northeast in Section 3 of the same township and range. It was abandoned at 1,850 ft. Rulexco's #1 Stampede-Lula McKenzie 10-1 is in adjacent Section 10 of the same township, and the company's #1 Stampede-Street is more than two miles north-northeast in Section 34-6s-2e. The nearest production is from #1 Danne 2-16, the single producer in Green Branch Field in Section 2-7s-2e. That well produced a cumulative 72.4 million cu. ft. of gas and 292 bbl. of water during the 10 years it was online. 2 Jordan Development Co., Traverse City, Mich., plans a 5,700-ft. wildcat to Silurian Niagaran in the northern reef trend in northern Manistee County, Mich. The company's #11-4 Crystal View is in Section 4-24n-13w in Cleon Township, about two miles north of the Cleon 16-24n-13w Field. There, the #1-16 Van Horn et al. flowed 2.5 million cu. ft. of gas a day from Brown Niagaran perforations between 5,350 and 5,468 ft. The company also plans to drill an 1,850-ft. Antrim test at its #13-4 Crystal View in Section 4-2n-13w. 3 Devonian sections through the Bois Blanc are targets for the #1-27 Pinora-State in Section 27-18n-11w in Pinora Township in southern Lake County, Mich. Savoy Energy LP, Traverse City, scheduled the 5,100-ft. well slightly more than two miles west of Reed City Field, which produces from Devonian Traverse, Dundee, Detroit River and Richfield above 4,700 ft. and from Ordovician Prairie du Chien near 9,400 ft. Farther north, Savoy has permitted the #A34A Big 8 Land Co. well. That test, in Section 34-30n-4e, Montmorency County, is projected to Prairie du Chien, says IHS Energy. 4 Independent Ronald G. Lockwood, Edinburg, Ill., staked the #1-L-18 Heischmidt & Heirs in Section 18-7n-5e in central Effingham County, Ill. The well, about three miles east of Altamont, will penetrate formations through Silurian to 3,950 ft. The new well is about a mile south of the #1-7 Smith Trust opener for Keptown Field. That discovery was completed on pump at a rate of 40 bbl. of oil and 40 bbl. of water a day from Devonian Geneva perforations between 3,731-33 ft. 5 Pioneer Oil Co. Inc., Lawrenceville, Ill., will drill a wildcat to Silurian at 2,800 ft. about six miles southeast of Pocahontas in southern Bond County, Ill. The #1 Reymond, in Section 16-4n-3w, is about three miles southeast of Stubblefield South Field, which has produced 156,000 bbl. of oil from nine Devonian wells at about 2,200 ft. since its discovery in 1955. The field also produces gas from Cypress at 900 ft. and Pennsylvanian at 575 ft. Pioneer will drill the well with a company-owned rig. 6 Quicksilver Resources Inc., Fort Worth, plans seven new shallow wildcats in a drilling program near Laconia Field in Harrison County, Ind. All the wells target Ordovician at 1,050 ft. The wildcats include the #B4-25 Frakes and the #C1-25 Harris, both in Section 25-4s-3e, and a little more than a mile northwest of Laconia Field. Also on the wildcat list are the #D3-26 Fisher in Section 26-5s-3e, the #A2-35 Fisher in Section 35-5s-3e, the #D2-4 Collins in Section 4-5s-5e and the #A3-2 Timberlake in Section 2-6s-3e. 7 Two wildcats are in the planning stages for Huron County, Ohio, by Franklin Gas & Oil Co. Inc. of Wooster. The independent will drill the #1 Fisher Unit to Mount Simon at 4,000 ft. in Lot 14, Township 3n-23w, in Monroeville Quad. The well is seven miles west of North Hartland Field, which produces from Oriskany and Big Lime. Its other wildcat is the #1 Gravenhorst Unit, projected to Mount Simon at 3,950 ft. in Lot 1 in the same quad. 8 Otis Eastern Service Inc., Wellsville, N.Y., is attempting to increase production from its Allegany County, N.Y., holdings with three wildcats near its existing Fulmer Valley Field production. The wildcats, which target the Upper Devonian series to about 1,400 ft., are the #2 J Hess, the #1 H Joyce and the #2 A Wilbert. All of the wells are in Section I of Andover Quad in Andover Township. The wells are between 2.4 miles southeast, 1.1 miles northeast and 1.1 miles west (respectively) of West Andover Field, which produces from Penny. 9 In Seneca County, N.Y., Great Lakes Energy Partners LLC, Hartville, Ohio, has permitted its #2 Proper-Poorman in Section H, Seneca Falls Quad, Seneca Falls Township, to go to 2,000 ft. The well is slightly more than a mile north of Queenston production in Waterloo South Field. 10 Nornew Inc., Jamestown, N.Y., has a two-well wildcat program planned in Madison County, N.Y. Its #1 Swenson/Manning, in Section 1, West Eaton Quad, Lebanon Township, is about a mile southwest of Billington Heights. The #1 Symonds-Joseph is in Section G of the same Township. Both wells will target Medina at 3,275 ft. 11 Phillips Production Co., Jamestown, N.Y., has an 8,000-ft. wildcat in mind for its #1-A-Sega well in Cortland County, N.Y. That well is in Section A, Hartford Quad, Virgil Township. 12 New York is enjoying a resurgence in wildcatting. In Chenango County, EOG Resources Inc., Houston, plans to drill the #2 Oxford to 3,000 ft. in Section B, Oxford Quad, Preston Township, about 2.5 miles northeast of Oxford, N.Y. It also plans the #1 Von Hassel in the same county, again to 3,000 ft., about 11.5 miles southeast of Deruyter, N.Y. 13 Allegheny Enterprises Inc., Corsicia, Pa., has scheduled a wildcat aimed at Oriskany at 8,000 ft. in Cameron County, Pa. The #1 Cicciarelli is in Section G, Wharton Quad, Lumber Township, almost four miles southeast of Emporium East Field's Oriskany production and about 8.2 miles east of Emporium, Pa., according to IHS Energy. 14 Great Lakes Energy Partners LLC, Hartville, Ohio, plans to drill an Oriskany wildcat to 8,000 ft. in Washington County, Pa. The #1 Deiseroth is scheduled to drill in Section H, Midway Quad, Mt. Pleasant Township. The well is three miles southeast of Woodrow Field and 5.2 miles northwest of McGovern, Pa. 15 Two wildcats have been scheduled in Clay County, W.Va., by Columbia Natural Resources Inc., Charleston (recently purchased by Triana Energy Holdings Inc.). Both wells are in Union District, Newton Quad, about a fifth-mile apart and more than nine miles east of Clendenin, W.Va. The wells are the #TC-37 Goshorn & Swann Brown and the #TC-83 Goshorn & Swann Brown. Both wells target Devonian shale at 5,000 ft. 16 Cabot Oil & Gas Corp., Houston, has a couple of wildcats and an outpost in the planning stages in Mercer County, W.Va. The company's #1 Blue Jay will try to find commercial gas production from Pocono at 4,185 ft. That well is in Jumping Branch District, Odd Quad, about 1.25 miles southeast of an unnamed Maxton field and 10.75 miles northeast of Matoaka, W.Va. The company's other wildcat, the #1 Haga, will look for gas in the Weir formation. That well is in Beaver Pond District, Bramwell Quad, about 1.25 miles south of Bramwell, W.Va. The outpost well is the #2 Blue Jay, staked just off an unnamed field. It is targeting gas in the Pocono at a depth of 3,945 ft. The well is in Rock District, Odd Quad, about 8.75 miles northeast of Matoaka. Cabot also is drilling in Wayne County. There, its A-29 Wilson Coal will look at gas potential in Devonian shale at 3,360 ft. That well is in Lincoln District, Wilsondale Quad. 17 Independent Larry A. Edmonds, Carrollton, Ky., has permitted two wildcats in eastern McLean County, Ky. Both will test Mississippian. The #1 Alan, Wendel & Doug Miller 20-M-27 will go to 1,695 ft. It is more than a half-mile west of a 1965 well in Section 20-M-27, Calhoun Quad. That well recovered oil from 2,530 ft., but few details were disclosed. If tests of its new well are positive, Edmonds plans to move forward with the #3 Alan, Wendel & Doug Miller in the same section. 18 Ward Lake Drilling Inc., Gaylord, Mich., has a three-well shallow New Albany program in the works in Hardin County, Ky., about nine miles southwest of Fort Knox. All three wells are scheduled to 1,150 ft. The wells are the #CC-B Clarence W. Cochran in 18-P-41e, the #CC-A Clarence W. Cochran in 19-P-41e, and the #WW-B William J. and Rosemary Cochran, also in 19-P-41e. All three wells are in Flaherty Quad. The closest New Albany production is from an unnamed field about 1.5 miles south. 19 Knox Energy Ltd., Bluefield, Va., will drill a couple of wildcats in Anderson County, Tenn. The company's #CC-1012 Coal Creek Mining & Manufacturing Co. will be a 5,660-ft. Stones River test in Section 13-5s-62e, Windrock Quad, about three miles northeast of an unnamed field that produces from Monteagle. The other well is the #CC-2005 Coal Creek Mining & Manufacturing Co. in Section 22-5s-62e, That well, a Knox test to 5,000 ft., is also in Windrock Quad.
