Alliance aims to increase subsea production rates
Increasing recovery rates has long been a key technology challenge for the oil and gas industry, especially in deepwater fields like those found in the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere. At the recent Offshore Technology Conference, Aker Solutions and Baker Hughes announced the formation of the Subsea Production Alliance.
This alliance will combine Aker Solutions' strength in subsea production and processing systems with Baker Hughes' expertise in well completions and artificial lift technology to deliver reliable, integrated in-well and subsea production solutions that will help mitigate risk, accelerate output and extend the life of subsea fields. The Alliance team also will focus on advancing the industry's well-intervention capabilities to further optimize efficiency and reduce risks in subsea developments.
Aker Solutions' Sven Ivar Fure and Baker Hughes' Brage Johannessen will lead the Alliance for their respective companies as general managers. In an exclusive interview in this month's issue of Offshore Connect, both lend their insights into the challenge of maximizing subsea production recovery rates and tell us more about the direction and goals of the Alliance.
