Gary Russell, formerly an oilfield-services analyst with Frost Securities in Dallas, has been named vice president, equity analyst, covering oilfield services for Stifel Nicolaus & Co. in Denver. Frost Securities closed its research department this summer. Scott Burk, formerly an associate analyst with Frost, has joined Bear Stearns & Co. in New York City as an associate analyst covering the E&P sector. He is working with Bear Stearns' long-time E&P senior analyst Ellen Hannan. Chad Weiss has joined RBC Capital Markets as managing director and head of the corporate finance energy group and investment-banking division of Royal Bank of Canada. Weiss was head of the energy and power group at Banc of America Securities LLC and was with Smith Barney & Co. for 17 years.
