In Franklin County, Ill., Woolsey Operating Co. is continuing the company's Knox drilling program. The #1-340602-55 Finite A is a 7,500-ft exploratory test in Section 34-6s-2e. Within one mile to the east is a shallow 409-ft Pennsylvanian test drilled in 1990, #1 Pope Heirs, in Section 34, which was abandoned in 1962 at 2,955 ft in McClosky. Oil production in Benton Field is two miles east of Woolsey Operating's drillsite. Opened in 1941, wells in the Franklin County reservoir produce from Pennsylvanian and several Mississippian pays. The deepest Mississippian well in the field yields crude from Ullin at about 3,700 ft. Woolsey is based in Wichita, Kan.
