Description
A deeper pool wildcat is underway in Posey County, Ind. Tulsa, Okla.-based Warren American Oil Co.’s #3 W.D. Maier is in Section 3-7s-14w and has a proposed depth of 5,500 ft. The vertical wildcat is targeting Devonian oil pays. Nearby production is within 1 mile to the west in Welborn Consolidated Field. A 1985 completion, #2 Ed Bostick, was tested pumping 10 bbl of crude per day from Cypress Sand at 2,473-75 ft. First production from Welborn Consolidated Field began in the 1940s, with wells in the field yielding oil mostly from Mississippian zones. The deepest well in the reservoir produces through perforations at 3,872-76 ft in Harrodsburg.
