TAG Oil To Test Secondary Target In Taranaki Basin, N.Z.
Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
TAG Oil Ltd. is planning to test a secondary target, Mt. Messenger, at exploration well #1-Pukatea in the Puka permit (PEP51135) of Taranaki Basin in New Zealand. The #1-Pukatea was drilled to 3,100 m after penetrating a (faulted) thickened overlying interval of basement rock without intersecting Tikorangi Limestone. According to the Vancouver, Canada-based company, intermittent hydrocarbon shows were recorded between 2,520 and 2,680 m and electric logs are planned to evaluate these shows and the entire interval to 3,100 m. A successful Mt. Messenger oil zone test could also restart oil production from the currently suspended Puka oil field.
