Description
ExxonMobil Corp., based in Houston, announced a second oil discovery, #1-Payara, in the offshore Guyana Stabroek block. The venture targeted similar aged reservoirs found at #1-Liza, which was discovered in 2015. The well encountered more than 95 ft of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone reservoirs. It was drilled to 18,080 ft and is in 6,660 ft water. Two sidetracks have been drilled and additional testing and evaluation is underway. Esso is the operator and holds 45% interest in the Stabroek Block along with Hess Corp. holding 30% interest and China National Offshore Oil Corp. with 25% interest.
