Description

Ultra Petroleum Corp., based in Houston, has tested a 2-mile horizontal Lance well and its first 2-mile horizontal Mesaverde well on the Pinedale Anticline in Sublette County, Wyo. The wells were drilled from a drillpad in Section 24-30n-108w. The #9-23-A-2H Warbonnet was tested producing 54.5 MMcfe per day (49.2 MMcf of gas and 873 bbl of oil) from Lower Lance A. It was drilled to 22,690 ft with a lateral length of 11,000 ft. The true vertical depth was expected at 11,700 ft and it bottomed 2 miles to the east in Section 20-30n-107w. The well was completed after 49-stage fracturing. Ultra’s Mesaverde test, #9-23-M-1H Warbonnet, flowed 17 MMcfe per day. It was drilled to 25,190 ft, 14,264 ft true vertical. The well was horizontally drilled to the east and bottomed in Section 20-30n-108w.
