IHS Markit reported that Oil Search Ltd. has penetrated the Nanushuk formation at a second North Slope exploratory test in Section 16-12n-6e in Umiat Meridian, Alaska. The #1 Pikka-C, has encountered the Nanushuk 3 reservoir facies. According to the Sydney-based company, it has shown good quality reservoir development and is now being changed from a vertical hole into a horizontal hole which will allow the company to perform flow-testing in the core reservoir area. The #1 Pikka-C was projected to a true vertical depth of 4,919 ft. A horizontal sidetrack off of that venture, #1 ST Pikka-C, will be drilled to a bottom-hole location in Section 8-12n-6e. True vertical depth of the lateral is anticipated at 4,175 ft. Within 10 miles to the south-southwest, Oil Search penetrated Nanushuk and hit hydrocarbons at the first exploratory test in the area, #1 Pikka-B in Section 35-11n-5e. The company announced that the well intersected the thickest Nanushuk reservoir seen on the field to date with more than 780 ft of core recovered.
