Description
A deeper pool wildcat has been staked by Pioneer Oil Co. Inc. in Franklin, Ill. According to IHS Markit, #1-34 Royalton is scheduled to be drilled to 6,200 ft and is in Section 34-7s-1e. Pioneer’s venture is targeting Platteville oil pays — a successful completion would open a new pool and extend Clifford Field about 1.5 miles to the northwest. Offsetting Pioneer Oil’s new location to the southeast is a shallow 300-ft test drilled in 1989. Within 2 miles to the southeast is Williamson County’s Clifford Field, a three-well reservoir opened in 1957. More recently, Paragon Oil re-entered a 2,600-ft well in 2016 that was originally abandoned in 2003. The workover, #1-11 Illinois Minerals, was tested pumping 7 bbl of crude and 2 bbl of water per day from Aux Vases at 2,431-44 ft. Pioneer is based in Vincennes, Ind.
