Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Stavanger-based Equinor announced an oil discovery in the PL 167 license on the Utsira High in the North Sea. The discovery is currently estimated to contain 15-35 MMbbl of recoverable oil equivalent. According to the company, #16/1-29 S hit an oil column of about 95 m with moderate-to-good reservoir quality. An oil and gas column of about 30 m was also encountered in Grid (Eocene). The effective reservoir consists of thin sandstone layers (10 m) with very good reservoir quality (about 5 m of gas and 5 m of oil). The completion also delineated the gas discovery at #1 6/1-6 S (Verdandi) with a gas column of about 15 m in Paleocene Heimdal with good reservoir properties. The size of #16/1-6 S (Verdandi) is between 21-28 Bcf of recoverable gas. The well was drilled to 1,987 m and was terminated in basement rock. Area water depth is 114 m. The well will now be permanently plugged and abandoned. Partners in the venture are Lundin AB and Spirit Energy.
