Description
On the eastern flank of the Powder River Basin, Contango Oil & Gas Co. completed a horizontal exploratory test that initially flowed 357 bbl of 39-degree-gravity oil, 35 Mcf of gas and 222 bbl of water per day. The Houston-based company's #45N-66W-35 1H WC is in Section 35-45n-66w of Weston County, Wyo. The discovery is producing from a horizontal lateral in the Lower Cretaceous Muddy Sand. The north-trending well was drilled to 13,357 ft and it bottomed in Section 26-45n-66w. The true vertical depth is 6,146 ft. The venture was tested following 40-stage fracturing between 6,498 and 13,209 ft.
