According to IHS Markit, Michigan Geosearch Inc. is drilling a Niagaran wildcat exploratory test in St. Clair County, Mich. The #1-24 Bishop has a planned depth of 3,700 ft and is in Section 24-6n-14e. Nearby drilling is to the north in Section 13 at two wildcats that were drilled in 1978. The #1 Leo J. Lapensee was drilled to 3,668 ft and some shows of oil were encountered in Niagaran. The #1 Lapensee & Burns was abandoned at 3,670 ft. Niagaran production in the two-well Alpine Field is about 3 miles to the southeast of Geosearch’s drillsite: the field opener, #1 L&O Rausch, was tested flowing 6.8 MMcf of gas per day from Niagaran at 3,151-76 ft. The #1-A F&O Hartson was completed in 1970 in a Niagaran zone at 3,060-88 ft. Geosearch is based in Reno.
