Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Aker BP has completed two appraisal wells on the Gekko oil and gas discovery in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. The #25/4-13S and #25/4-13A are in production license PL203. The #25/4-13S was drilled to 2,653 m on the southern part of the structure and hit a 43-m oil and gas column in Heimdal, of which 6.5 m were an oil column. Nearly the entire interval consists of reservoir sandstones with very good-to-excellent reservoir quality. The #25/4-13A was drilled to 2,641 m on the northern part of the structure. It encountered an approximate 30-m oil and gas column in Heimdal, of which 6 m was an oil column with about 15 m of a net reservoir sandstone with very good-to-excellent reservoir quality. Preliminary estimates place the size of the discovery is 31.7 MMcf to 81.2 MMcf (recoverable). Water depth at the site is 120 m. The wells have been permanently plugged and abandoned. Oslo-based Aker BP is the operator of PL203 and Block 25/4 with 65% interest in partnership with ConocoPhillips with 20%, and Lundin with the remaining 15%.
