Description
A fifth oil discovery was announced by Houston-based ExxonMobil Corp. in offshore Guyana at exploration well #1-Turbot in the south-eastern part of Stabroek Block. The #1-Turbot encountered a reservoir of 23 m of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone in the primary objective and was drilled to 5,622 m in 1,802 m of water. Following completion of #1-Tur-bot, the rig will be moved to the Ranger prospect. An additional well on the Turbot discovery is being planned for 2018. ExxonMobil is operator of #1-Turbot with 45% interest in partnership with Hess, holding 30%, and CNOOC with the remaining 25%.
