Ecopetrol S.A. reported an oil discovery at exploration well #1-Aullador drilled in Colombia's Santander Province. The well is part of the Middle Magdalena Basin Playon Block exploration and production agreement it concluded with the government's Agencia Nacional de Hidrocarburos. The venture was drilled to 11,393 ft. and production tests showed an average of 300 bbl. per day of 24-degree-gravity API oil obtained by natural flow. The well shows low watercut and sediment of only 0.1% and a gas-oil ratio of 200. The Bogota-based company plans additional testing to define the potential of the discovery. Ecopetrol is the operator of the Playon Block and #1-Aullador with 100% interest.
