Cuadrilla Resources Ltd. has completed drilling a horizontal well at its exploration site at Preston New Road in Lancashire. The #1-Preston New Road was targeting Lower Bowland Shale at a depth of approximately 2,700 m with an 800-m lateral. Fracturing and testing are planned after drilling the second well, which is also targeting Bowland Shale. The company has applied with the government to fracture the first two horizontal wells in 2018. Previous analysis also confirmed that both Upper and Lower Bowland Shale have low overall clay content that is suitable for fracturing. Staffordshire, U.K.-based Cuadrilla will run an initial flow test of both wells for approximately six months.
