Traverse City-based Savoy Energy LP has made a vertical oil discovery in Calhoun County, Mich. According to IHS Markit, #1-19 Motz pumped 192 bbl of crude per day from Trenton perforations at 3,482-98 ft. The discovery was drilled to an estimated total depth of 3,600 ft and is in Section 19-4s-7w. Savoy’s oil find is 7 miles west of Trenton/Black River oil production in Tekonsha Field, a Calhoun County reservoir opened in 1959.
