Description
BP is drilling the first of two exploratory tests at the Ariel 6 project in Mississippi Canyon Block 430. The #1 OCS G35823 is in the western half of the block and area water depth is 6,200 ft. According to a 2018 exploration plan, a second venture is planned for an offsetting surface location although no permit has been filed. West of the London-based company’s Block 430 prospect is Ariel Field, which came online in 2004. Four wells in the field produce crude from Miocene at 12,100-13,202 ft.
