On the northern flank of the Fort Worth Basin, a horizontal Barnett shale well was completed in the Montague County (RRC Dist. 9), Texas, portion of Newark East Field. EOG Resources' #1H Bowen A Unit had an initial daily potential of 442 bbl. of crude, 1.17 million cu. ft. gas, and 629 bbl. of water through acid- and fracture-stimulated perforations at 9,000-12,619 ft. Located in the Washington Edwards Survey, A-227, the well's total depth was 12,740 ft., 7,793 true vertical, with a bottomhole location to the northwest beneath the Richard Blaney Survey, A-64. EOG headquarters are in Houston.
