Description
Two horizontal Heath Shale discoveries were completed by Alta Vista Oil on the Sumatra Syncline in Rosebud County, Mont. IHS Markit reported that #1H Golden Monkey initially produced 776 bbl of crude, 148,000 cu ft of gas and 1,173 bbl of water from perforations at 5,685-12,981 ft. The well was tested after a 38-stage fracture treatment. The pilot hole was drilled to 5,735 ft in Section 16-11n-34e. The lateral bottomed about 1.5 miles to the north in Section 9. Total depth is 13,088 ft, 5,330 ft true vertical. Six miles to the south-southeast, Alta Vista also completed #1H Flying Monkey in Section 14-10n-34e. Following 33-stage fracturing, the wildcat flowed 740 bbl of oil, 114,000 cu ft of gas and 3,214 bbl of water per day from Heath at 6,123-13,191 ft. The bottomhole is approximately 1.5 miles to the north in Section 11. The total depth is 13,420 ft (5,608 ft true vertical) and the initial pilot hole was drilled to 6,000 ft. Alta Vista is based in Clearmont, Wyo.
