1 Great Plains Energy Inc., Wahoo, Neb., will drill a wildcat nine miles north and slightly east of Oberlin, Kan. The #1 Hanchera, Section 17-1s-28w, will be in Decatur County, Kan., about 2.5 miles south of the Nebraska state line. This 4,250-ft. venture will test Lansing-Kansas City oil zones. The closest noncommercial producer is in Kathka Field. This two-well pool is 1.25 miles northwest from #1 Hanchera. Since discovered in 1972, this well has produced 1,300 bbl. of crude. The nearest commercial producer is a one-well Lansing-Kansas City discovery 3.5 miles south-southeast that recovered 26,000 bbl. of crude between 1962 and 1974, according to IHS Energy. 2 Wichita, Kan., independent CMX Inc. has staked a wildcat in central Kansas to evaluate Mississippian sediments. The #1 Francisco, Section 28-19s-6w, is in eastern Rice County, Kan., two miles south-southeast of the town of Little River. The 3,400-ft. venture is 1.5 miles southeast of an abandoned well in Little Rio Field. Since 1986, #1 Francisco has produced 72,000 bbl. of oil from three wells tapping the Lansing-Kansas City at about 3,125 ft. and 185 million cu. ft. of gas from four Mississippian wells at 3,250 ft. 3 White County, Ark., will be the home of a wildcat scheduled by Hallwood Petroleum LLC, Dallas. The #1-7H Dismang, Section 7-6n-9w, is projected to 8,500 ft. The site is 7.5 miles northwest of Beebe and 17 miles southeast of Fayetteville producers in New Quitman Field. The closest well is in White County, Ark. The #1-7 Ronny, Section 7-8n-7w, began producing 800,000 to 900,000 cu. ft. of gas per day from the Fayetteville. 4 Hallwood Petroleum has also permitted additional horizontal Fayetteville Shale wildcats with the Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission. The company will drill #1-H Short in Section 8-3n-1e, Lee County, Ark. The well is projected to a true vertical depth of 4,800 ft. at a bottom-hole location in Section 7-3n-1e. The company has also staked a 7,450-ft. (TVD) wildcat at #1-10H Katherine in southwestern Woodruff County. This project is in Section 10-5n-4w, some eight miles from Des Arc, Ark. And, it plans to drill #1-33H Fourmile in Faulkner County to a TVD of approximately 6,300 ft. 5 GHK Co. LLC, Oklahoma City, has completed a discovery northwest of Cheyenne in western Oklahoma. The #3-17 Fighting Bear, Section 17-14n-24w, is in Roger Mills County, Okla. The 9,670-ft. wildcat recovered 433 bbl. of oil, 1 million cu. ft. of gas and 59 bbl. of load water per day from Cottage Grove sand at 9,488-94 ft. A west offset, #2-17 Thunder Bull, in Section 17-14n-24w, is currently being production-tested in the Marmaton at 11,410-44 ft. GHK tested this 13,818-ft. prospect in the Cherokee between 13,400 and 13,716 ft. then isolated the formation below a bridge plug. 6 Denver-based Antero Resources Corp. completed a wildcat in western Atoka County, Okla. The #1 Carr Estate 13H, Section 13-2s-10e, is three miles west of the town of Atoka. This 11,157-ft. discovery was tested on a 64/64-in. choke flowing 3.96 million cu. ft. of gas with 179 bbl. of water per day through perforations in five intervals between 8,687 and 11,031 ft. following acid and fracture treatment, according to IHS Energy. The #1 Carr Estate 13H is closest to an unnamed two-well Wapanucka oil pool. 7 Yates Petroleum Corp., Artesia, N.M., completed a wildcat in Chaves County, N.M., some 15 miles east-southeast of Roswell. The 6,615-ft. #1 Lacrosse State Unit, Section 32-11s-27e, produced gas at a rate of 240,000 cu. ft. per day. It was tested through acid- and fracture-stimulated perforations from 5,298 to 5,462 ft. in the Wolfcamp, through an 8/64-in. choke with 150 psi of flowing tubing pressure. 8 Yates Petroleum Corp., Artesia, N.M., has also completed a wildcat in Lea County, N.M. This 12,660-ft. well is in Section 2-11s-35e, some 10 miles north-northwest of Tatum, and tested flowing 1.2 million cu. ft. of gas, 12 bbl. of condensate and eight bbl. of water per day. The #2 Chesney State Unit tested on a 24/64-in. choke with 340 psi of flowing tubing pressure. The top of the pay was logged at 11,690 ft. from a kelly bushing elevation of 4,075 ft. 9 Tulsa, Okla.-based Holmes Exploration LLC finished a venture in Lipscomb County, Texas, (RRC 10) about eight miles northwest of Higgins. The #4492 Shebam, Section 449, Block 43, was drilled to 8,227 ft. and had an initial flowing potential of 279 bbl. of oil, 1.09 million cu. ft. of gas and 128 bbl. of water per day, gauged on a 24/64-in. choke with 590-psi flowing tubing pressure, according to IHS Energy. The #4492 Shebam is a mile northeast of Tonkawa, the site of the nearest producing oil well in Trosper Field. 10 Potter County, Texas, (RRC 10) has been sited by Burk Royalty Co. Ltd., Wichita Falls, Texas, for a wildcat. Positioned nine miles north of Amarillo, Texas, #1 Bush-Emeny is in Section 29, Block M-19, G&M Survey, A-340. The 6,500-ft. well will evaluate Pennsylvanian formations and the Granite Wash. The closest discovery is #1 Emeny, in Section 29. The well was tested from 5,700-20 ft. in the Granite Wash and pumped 194 bbl. of oil, 3,000 cu. ft. of gas and 106 bbl. of water per day. 11 Cimarex Energy Co., Denver, plans a well in Hardeman County, Texas, (RRC 9) in the Sherlock Field area. The #3H Jeffrey Ranch Unit is scheduled to reach a depth of 8,000 ft. in the Holmes Sand on an 80-acre lease in section 13, EL&RR Survey, A-574, about nine miles south of the town of Quanah. 12 Trio Consulting & Management LLC, Wichita Falls, Texas, will construct two wildcats in Dickens County, Texas (RRC 8A). The #101 Pitchfork North "I-A" is scheduled to 4,300 ft. in Section 1, Block D, T.A. Thomson Survey, A-552, and #2101 Pitchfork North "I-A" is scheduled to 4,300 ft. on a 671-acre lease in Section 210, BS&F Survey, A-586, less than 15 miles east of the town of Dickens. The closest production to both wildcats is in Trinity Trace Field. 13 A wildcat will be drilled by Dyad Petroleum Co., Midland, Texas, in the northeastern portion of Scurry County, Texas (RRC 8A). The #1 Saddle Horn is 10 miles northeast of the town of Snyder. This wildcat is projected to 5,500 ft. on a 484-acre lease in Section 225, Block 2, H&TC Survey, A-123, and a mile north of the nearest previous producer in Loyd Mountain Field. The closest production comes from #2 NE Snyder "A," in Section 152, which was completed in 2001. This wildcat reportedly produced 78 bbl. of oil a day from Strawn Reef. 14 Spiller Operating Co. Inc., San Antonio, will spud a wildcat in southern Coke County, Texas, (RRC 7C) more than 10 miles south-southwest of the town of Robert Lee. The #1 Stone is scheduled to 7,200 ft. on an 873.5-acre lease in Section 73, Block Z, EL&RR Co Survey, A-146. The wildcat will be 2.25 miles southwest of Higgins Ranch Field, which produced 1.36 million bbl. of crude, 3.64 billion cu. ft. of casinghead gas and 413,932 bbl. of water. 15 Scully Energy Corp. plans three wildcats in Lampasas and Coryell counties, Texas, (RRC 7B) just west of the town of Copperas Cove. The #1 Metty is on a 460-acre lease in the James I. Allbritton Survey, A-1657, to 3,950 ft. The #1 Gotcher is a quarter-mile southeast in the same survey, and is planned to 1,803 ft. The #1 Morse is in the John Blakey Survey, A-1318, and permitted to 3,950 ft. 16 William R. Guffey, Dallas, completed a discovery in Concho County, Texas (RRC 7B). The #1 Alexander flowed 652,000 cu. ft. of gas and seven bbl. of water per day through acidized perforations in the Goen from 3,047-53 ft. According to IHS Energy, the flowing tubing pressure was 220 psi on a 24/64-in. choke; shut-in tubing pressure was 1,274 psi. The 3,170-ft. wildcat is nine miles east of the town of Paint Rock. The closest producing well is in Edwin Field, two miles east-southeast in Section 1968, Heirich Winkel Survey, A-978.
