Work has been completed by Norway’s Polarcus on a new 3-D survey over the deepwater Drombeg oil prospect in Frontier Exploration License 2/14 in the deepwater southern Porcupine Basin.
Using the Polarcus Amani survey vessel with a total of ten 8.1 km (5 mile) receivers in a 1,350 m (0.84 mile) wide array, the vessel was able to obtain 4,300 sq km (12,6598 sq miles) of data in 73 days in the frontier Atlantic Margin waters, operator Providence Resources reported.
Preliminary data from the shoot should become available by year-end, although Providence says a final data set will be available from March next year, in time for the closing of a 2015 Atlantic Margin licensing regime in September 2015.
Another regional 2-D survey over the Newgrange prospect in the Goban Spur basin off south-west Ireland is also nearing completion, Providence added.
