French oilfield technologies company Technip Energies will provide FEED services for TotalEnergie's Papua LNG project at its Papua New Guinea upstream production facilities, a press release announced on Aug. 22.

Technip leads a consortium with Australian engineering and technology company Clough, with the partnership forming to address the challenges of this project while laying a solid foundation for its execution and creating a sustainable ecosystem around it, according to the press release.

“We are very proud to be entrusted by TotalEnergies for this strategic development which will feed the future Papua LNG trains," Loic Chapuis, senior vice president of gas and low carbon energies at Technip, said in the release.

"Leveraging our expertise designing gas units, integrating technologies and managing CO2 as well as our experience delivering large scale projects we are committed to make this project a reference in the industry.”

TotalEnergies previously announced the launch of its first phase of FEED studies on July 20.

The upstream production facilities cover the development of the Elk and Antelope onshore gas fields, including the well pads and the central processing facility.

In addition to the facility development, the project will also incorporate a carbon capture and sequestration scheme to remove CO2 from the field and reinject it into the reservoirs.
