Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Drilling permits have been granted to Houston-based ConocoPhillips for six extended-reach horizontal Niobrara delineation tests on the former Lowry Bombing Range in Arapahoe County, Colo. The #5-65 2-3-1CH, 1DH, 2AH, 2BH, 2CH and 2DH Massive-State will be drilled from a common drillpad in Section 2-5s-65w and will bottom to the west in Section 3-5s-65w. Total depths range from 18,128 to 18,293 ft; true vertical depths range from 7,973 to 8,063 ft. These are the first permits approved by the state in Arapahoe County since Senate Bill 19-181 was signed into law in April. That bill has made changes to oil and gas regulations in the state, which are being studied by the Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission, whose mission changed to one of protecting public health and safety versus fostering extraction and increased development. ConocoPhillips had applied for the six Massive-State permits in May 2018.
