A Comet Ridge Ltd. coal seam gas venture flowed 1.4 MMcf of gas and 30 bbl of water per day at its #6/2 Mira 6/2 horizontal well in the company’s Mira Pilot Scheme in Queensland’s Mahalo Block ATP1191P (formerly ATP337P). The company reported that it tapped a coal seam length of 924 m and was drilled into a single seam. The company is currently working with its joint-venture partners to reduce backpressure in the surface facilities and is planning to drill a long, dual-horizontal well. The Mahalo Project is approximately 240 km west of Gladstone in the Bowen Basin. Comet Ridge is the operator of the Mahalo project with 40% interest in partnership with Australia Pacific LNG, holding 30%, and Santos with the remaining 30%.
