The company said the results have positive implications for other targets in the area, including Tolmount Far East and the Mongour discovery.
In a social media posting Oct. 4, PetroChina’s Tarim unit said the Bozi-9 well in the Tarim Basin yielded a daily output of 418,200 cubic meters of natural gas and 115.15 cubic meters of condensate in test production on Oct. 3.
A production test conducted with an electric submersible pump in the Guadalupe Formation resulted in a production rate of about 960 barrels of oil per day, the company said in a news release.
The field is located southwest of the Marulk Field, Equinor said, while it estimated gas resources to be about 50 million to 88 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Drilled in 2,003 m (6,572 ft) of water by the Noble Tom Madden drillship, the Tripletail-1 well hit about 33 m of high-quality oil-bearing sandstone reservoir, Exxon Mobil said.
Although the discovery was smaller than initially estimated, it offers Tullow and its partners better understanding of the block to decide on further exploration drilling and development of production, Tullow CEO Paul McDade said.
The latest gas discovery was made by the West Erregulla-2 well in the High Cliff sandstone where a gas column of at least 22 m was encountered, Strike Energy said in a news release.
The Annie gas discovery marks the first made by an offshore well in the basin in 11 years, according to Cooper Energy.
