Inpex, Japan's top exploration and production company, has sold its U.S. tight oil assets to Spanish energy company Repsol, it said on Feb. 1.
Inpex, which has held a number of tight oil assets in the Eagle Ford play in Texas since 2019, decided to divest assets 'mainly on the company's view to optimize the Inpex Group's global asset portfolio.'
Inpex, which has a number of oil and gas assets globally, including in Norway, Azerbaijan and the Middle East, did not disclose the value of the deal but said that impact on its consolidated results will be 'minimal.'
Last month, Inpex said it aimed to speed up its expansion of the production and sales of LNG, expecting to gain from a tight LNG market in the mid-term as it also has LNG projects in Indonesia and Australia.
