Houston-based Walter Oil & Gas Corp. has scheduled additional drilling at the company’s Coelacanth development in Ewing Bank Block 834. The #3A OCS G33140 will be drilled from the A platform in the northern portion of the block. The development test is scheduled to bottom to the north in Block 790 in 1,200 ft of water. The company’s #2-A OCS G33140 was completed in 2016 and also bottomed in Block 790. It was tested flowing 4.998 Mbbl of crude and 4.6 MMcf of gas per day from a Miocene zone at 22,326-22,480 ft and 22,630-22,740 ft. It was drilled to 23,400 ft, 21,078 ft true vertical. In 2016, Walter permitted several more tests to be drilled from the A platform, with proposed bottomholes on Ewing Bank Block 789 (OCS G35805) and Mississippi Canyon Block 793 (OCS G33177).
