Tomsk Oblast Exploration Well In Achinsk Field, Western Siberia
Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
A Gazprom project looks to establish regional testing in Russia's Tomsk Oblast with technologies to discover and develop tight reserves. The first exploration well in the Western Siberian project is in Achinsk Field, where it is specifically studying the unconventional reserves of Bazhenov. About 30 m of core samples are being analyzed from the formation at a depth of about 2,600 m to further clarify the structure of Bazhenov and identify long-term prospects for production optimum strategies for development. The Bazhenov covers an area of approximately a 1 million sq km and its thickness is estimated at 10-40 m. Estimates suggest that oil reserves of Bazhenov range from 100 to 170 billion tons. Gazprom's headquarters are in Moscow.
