Mississippi Resources LLC has staked a Smackover test in Washington County, Ala. The company's #3-4 Chatom will be in Section 21-6n-4w. Proposed total depth was not disclosed. If successful, the Metairie, La.-based company's venture would be the first completion in Chatom Field since 2005. Chatom Field opened in 1970 and the scheduled drillsite is surrounded by gas wells. The closest producer is a 16,600-ft well completed in 1988: #3-3 Chatom 21-15 flowed 3.5 MMcf of gas and 1.506 Mbbl of condensate per day through Smackover perforations at 16,013-25 ft. A second zone was tested at a daily rate of 3.7 MMcf of gas and 1.88 Mbbl of condensate from Smackover at 16,083-16,103 ft. The lone oil well in the field is about one mile north of Mississippi Resources' new location at #3-1 Chatom.
