Description

Rosneft is to drill three wildcat wells and one further appraisal well in a new license it has acquired onshore Russia to explore the Naulsk Oil Field area, located in the Nenets Autonomous District. The Moscow-based company paid 3.6 billion Rubles for the license at auction. Severnaya Neft, a Rosneft subsidiary, will be the operator of the sub-Arctic project. Severnaya Neft is already engaged in exploration and production activities at three fields - Cherpayusk, Nadeiyusk and Khasyreysk, which are part of the Val Gambourtseva oil field. Naulskoye's oil reserves, classified as C1 and C2, are estimated at 35.9 million bbl. of oil. Production should reach a maximum volume of seven million bbl. per year. Field commissioning is expected by 2016. Polar Lights, a joint venture between Rosneft and ConocoPhillips, is currently exploring five fields in the Ardalinsk group, which are also located in the Nenets Autonomous District.
