Woodside Petroleum Ltd. has reported deepwater gas field discovery in the Bay of Bengal's Rakhine Basin in Myanmar's Block A-6. Drilled in 2,030 m of water, exploration well #1-Shwe Yee Htun reached 5,306 m and intersected a gross gas column of approximately 129 m with about 15 m of net gas pay within the primary target interval. Testing and evaluation of the data is ongoing in the channel complexes that run over the Saung anticlinal feature. Perth-based operator Woodside holds 40% interest MPRL E&P, holding 20% and Total has the remaining 40% interest and will become operator during the development and production phase.
