Description
A Wayne County, Ill., deep exploratory test has been spud by Pioneer Oil Co. Inc. The #1-Alt Espey is in Section 7-3s-5e and is targeting oil pays in Platteville. The proposed depth is 6,800 ft. Nearby production is within one-half mile to the south in the same section at a 2011 oil discovery: #1 K&L Wilkerson pumped 17 bbl of oil per day from St. Louis at 3,321-25 ft. It was drilled to 3,645 ft and is in Markham City Field. Recovery through late 2016 totaled 1.028 Mbbl of crude. Three other tests were drilled in Section 7 more than 50 years ago, and those wildcats were abandoned at depths of around 3,200 ft.
