Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Brazil Petrobras announced results from a Santos Basin pre-salt exploration/appraisal well in the Libra Block BM-S-11. The #3-BRSA-1322-RJS (3-RJS-741) is in the northwestern part of the block. It penetrated the largest oil column yet encountered in Libra, 301 m. The 28-degree-gravity oil is similar to that found in other wells in the area, indicating that the reservoirs are interconnected. The appraisal well is in 1,911 m of water. The seventh well, #3-RJS-742, also in the northwest area of the Libra structure, is currently being drilled. The Libra Consortium is composed of operator Rio de Janeiro-based Petrobras, with 40% interest, Shell, 20%, Total, 20%, and CNPC and CNOOC, both with 10%. The production sharing contract manager is Pre-Sal Petroleo.
