Description

According to Oil & Gas International, Moscow-based Rosneft discovered a new high-yield oilfield in the western part of the Sladkovsko-Morozovsky oil and gas region of the Slavyansko-Temryuksky license area in Russia's Krasnodar Kray. According to the company, the recoverable reserves have been initially estimated at more than 3.55 million bbl. of oil. The first well in development is #4-Zapadno-Mechetskaya and was drilled to a total depth of 3,525 meters. Preliminary results indicate that the deposit has significant potential. Expected well production could be between 1,560 and 2,485 bbl. of oil per day. One of Russia's oldest oil and gas provinces is in the Krasnodar Kray, where oil deposits have been developed since the end of the 19th century. The well-explored region is considered to have highly depleted deposits (85-87%) making it challenging to discover new deposits in the area. In 2010, Krasnodarneftegaz extracted 6.7 million bbl. of oil and gas condensate and 98.88 billion cu. ft. of gas. Krasnodarneftegaz has proven reserves of 71.9 million bbl. of oil and 1.71 billion cu. ft. of gas.
