Denbury Resources Inc. has completed the first horizontal Mission Canyon (Madison) producer on the Cedar Creek Anticline since 1995. The #14 MC-29H Pennel is in Section 29-7n-60 of, Fallon County, Mont. It had a 30-day initial production rate of 1.05 Mbbl of oil per day and is in the Pennel/Lookout Butte Field area. According to IHS Markit, the well was drilled to a true vertical depth of 7,200 ft, with a 4,800-ft lateral section geosteered in a 4-ft target at the top of the Mission Canyon carbonate formation. It was completed in an open-hole, non-stimulated section and the well began production through an electric submersible pump. According to the Plano, Texas-based company, the horizontal well’s initial estimated ultimate recovery is 400 Mbbl of oil.
