Description
According to IHS, John O. Schofield Inc. has scheduled a remote Precambrian exploratory test in southeastern Illinois, about 15 miles from the nearest oil production. The #1 Schofield-Hicks Dome will be in Section 30-11s-8e, in Hardin County. The proposed total depth was not disclosed. Just two previous wildcats have been drilled within five miles of Schofield's proposed drillsite. Also in Section 30 is #1 H. Hamp, which was abandoned in 1953 at 2,948 ft. The other wildcat in the area, #1 Missouri Portland Cement, in Section 36, was abandoned in 1978 at a depth of 370 ft. John O. Schofield's headquarters are in Carmi, Ill.
