BP has scheduled the company’s first test on Green Canyon Block 821, 12 miles west of the company’s Mad Dog development. The Puma West prospect, #2 OCS G34561, will be in the northeastern portion of the block and area water depth is,400 ft. It is the first permit filed for the prospect. According to the exploration plan, as many as four tests could be drilled on Block 821. BP was active on Block 821 in 2005 under a previous lease at #1 OCS G16806 near the eastern edge of the tract— that venture was abandoned at 24,000 ft in Miocene.
