Rachel Racz’s team adds energy listings to Nasdaq, which she identified as one of largest sectors for the exchange’s growth, a tough job in recent years as fewer companies have gone public due to low prices. The team guides companies through the process of going public. Racz aspires to run a startup one day.
“I am so proud to have launched a sector-specific business for the stock exchange. I represent Nasdaq on a national platform and our team looks to me to set the tone for the execution of our strategy.”
Vital: The capital markets “exist to facilitate job creation and wealth creation. The open market’s job is to drive economic growth.” By “modernizing the market structure,” companies will have an easier route to listing. Over the years, Nasdaq has worked with the federal government to revitalize the capital markets.
Patriot: “I love this country,” she said.
They’re off! For the past four years, Racz has been the announcer for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s Mutton Bustin’ Committee. It began when the organization wanted new announcers. “Seems like everyone wants to be” on the Mutton Bustin’ Committee, for which there’s a wait list. “I didn’t want to touch the sheep, and I guess I’m hilarious, so, I thought I might be good at announcing,” she said.
Quotable: “‘If you’re going to be a bear, be a grizzly bear.’ A grizzly bear is known as one of the strongest. … I believe we are allowed to choose what type of person we want to be, personally and professionally. Why wouldn’t you choose to be the best?”
