Total Acquires 24.5% Interest In Offshore Indonesia Blocks From ConocoPhillips

To acquire 24.5% interest in two Arafura Sea blocks offshore Indonesia.

Total SA, Paris, (NYSE: TOT) plans to acquire a 24.5% interest in the Arafura Sea and the Amborip VI blocks in the Arafura Sea offshore Indonesia from ConocoPhillips Co., Houston, (NYSE: COP) for an undisclosed cost.

The acquisition reduces ConocoPhillips' working interest in the Arafura Sea block to 75.5%. In the Amborip VI block, ConocoPhillips, which operates the properties, will retain a 51% interest; OPIC Indonesia Corp. owns the remaining 24.5% interest.

The Arafura Sea and Amborip VI blocks each cover approximately 3,475 square miles and lie in water between 100 and 330 feet deep.

The first exploration well in each block is expected to be drilled by the end of 2010.
