Opinion: Behind Trump’s Executive Orders

President Trump came to tiny Crosby, Texas, last week to sign a pair of executive orders designed to ease the transport of fossil fuels across the U.S. and beyond, including liquefied natural gas (LNG). Essentially, he wants to remove unnecessary and costly roadblocks at state and local levels to pipeline and infrastructure development by handing more power over to the federal government. 

Is this a blatant move by Trump to extend executive control of infrastructure projects at the expense of federal agencies or merely an effort to rebalance a regulatory system that many say is one-sided? Could Trump decide to usurp this power in the name of national security?
