Bolo Systems, the back-office software provider to some 130 energy companies, is getting ready for NAPE 2008. Denver- and Houston-based Bolo was formerly known as GWiz. It changed its name and in 2007 merged with Calgary-based Wellpoint Systems Inc., which is publicly traded on the Toronto Venture Exchange. Back-office issues concerning oil and gas producers going into 2008? SOX remains a concern. The "SOX bubble" is far from busted. Many oil and gas producers are still coming online. Affected producers include private ones, particularly those who have investments in public companies. Growing independent producers have used Bolo to handle their huge acquisition-related growth. In at least one case, a start-up producer that acquired a giant package from a Bolo customer took the back-office system with it.
