The White House said June 18 it plans to nominate Laura Daniel-Davis as assistant secretary of Land and Minerals Management for the Interior Department and Maria Camille Calimlim Touton as commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation.

Both “bring a wealth of knowledge to the department’s efforts to manage our public lands and waters for the benefit of current and future generations,” Interior Secretary Deb Haaland said in a news release.

With more than two decades of experience in the public and nonprofit sectors, Daniel-Davis most recently served as chief of policy and advocacy for the National Wildlife Foundation. Her previous roles have also included serving as chief of staff to interior secretaries Sally Jewell and Ken Salazar during the Obama administration as well as deputy chief of staff to Rep. Mark Udall, the Interior Department said in the release.

Touton most recently served as professional staff for the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Her congressional experience includes serving as staff for the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee.

The two were on a list of more than 20 leadership team members announced by the Biden-Harris administration earlier this year.

Next steps are for the latest nominations to be considered by the U.S. Senate.
