STEP Energy Services (STEP) performed its first coiled tubing job in North Dakota earlier this month for an independent oil producer in the area, the company said on Jan. 15.
The ultra-capacity coiled tubing unit traveled to a four well pad just outside of Watford City in the Bakken formation. The composite plug milling operation was performed using a 2-3/8 inch string of coiled tubing and removed 45 plugs per well; the deepest well reached a total measured depth of 21,969 ft (6,696 m). Efficient milling of composite plugs is critical in achieving operational efficiencies for the operator.
“We are extremely excited about the successful completion and flawless execution of our first-ever operation in North Dakota. The entire team of professionals did an excellent job representing STEP and delivered an exceptional client experience in a safe and timely manner. With our recent geographical expansion, onboarding of new professionals and fully operational service center in Williston, North Dakota, we will be able to better serve our clients in the Bakken formation,” said Brian Clark, director of U.S. coiled tubing services.
