PGS will carry out three new marine seismic surveys offshore Eastern Canada, the company said on May 18. The surveys will be acquired by the Ramform Atlas and Ramform Titan between early June and early September 2020. PGS will deliver fast-track results in 2020, and final imaging and interpretation products in early 2021.
PGS’ new Blomidon, South Bank, and Torngat Extension GeoStreamer surveys are all supported by industry funding. Together they will cover approximately 10,000 sq km (3,861 sq miles) offshore Labrador and Newfoundland.
Blomidon 3D will map approximately 4,000 sq km (1,544 sq miles) of GeoStreamer 3D data over open acreage that will be included in the north-eastern Newfoundland call for bids, which closes in November 2022. Fast-track PSTM imaging products will available for licensing by October 2020. Final imaging and interpretation products will be available in early 2021.
South Bank 3D will cover approximately 3,000 sq km (1,158 sq miles) with GeoStreamer 3D data over open acreage that will be included in the south-eastern Newfoundland Call for Bids, closing in November 2021. This is the first 3D project in the area and results are expected to radically improve understanding of its potential. Fast-track PSTM imaging products for South Bank will be available for licensing by the end of the year, with final imaging and interpretation products available early 2021.
The Torngat Extension 3D builds an additional 3,000 sq km on PGS’ library of existing coverage from 2019 acquisition, to create a total of 6,600 sq km (2,548 sq miles) over open acreage that is part of the South Labrador call for bids, closing in November 2021. Fast-track PSTM Imaging products will be available for licensing by the end of 2020. Final imaging and interpretation products will be ready in early 2021.
“Canada remains a good investment for explorers and we experience significant interest for our multiclient GeoStreamer data in the Newfoundland and Labrador area as GeoStreamer data continues to enhance understanding and unlock new potential,” Neil Paddy, new ventures manager for Canada at PGS, said.
