Calgary, Alberta-based Parex Resources Inc. said the Andina Norte-1 exploration well hit oil- and gas-bearing reservoirs in the Une and Guadalupe formations in Colombia’s Capachos Block.
The primary objective of the well targeted the Guadalupe Formation. During an 81-hour period, the well’s average production test rate was 2,785 barrels of oil per day (bbl/d) and 4.3 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) of natural gas under natural flowing conditions, Parex said June 10. The restricted measured rate during the last 12 hours of testing was 2,892 bbl/d and 4.6 MMcf/d of gas with a 2% watercut, the company said.
The secondary objective, Une Formation, resulted in the recovery of 1,631 barrels of oil, 1,173 barrels of water and 3.9 MMcf of natural gas during a 63-hour period under natural flowing conditions, the company said.
“As the Une Formation was a secondary well objective, this zone was suspended to allow testing of the up-hole Guadalupe Formation,” the company said in the release. “Parex expects that the Une reservoir will be produced later along with the Une reservoir discovered in the Andina field.”
The Andina-3 appraisal well will be drilled next.
Parex said gross production at the Capachos Block is restricted at about 5,100 bbl/d.
Parex is the operator, holding 50% working interest. Partner Ecopetrol holds the rest.
